MOPS Steering 2007-2008 Reunion

We meet up at LaFogata for a reunion with all the girls that were on the steering committee 2007-2008. It was so nice to see these girls again. We spent so much time together that year and now I hardly see them. There was only one pregnant mama in the group- Christine. Our mentor mom was there as well- Pam. Everyone looked great! Our little waiter- Rauli- was so kind to take our pic.

Seedless Watermelon....???

I went to Sun Harvest to get some fresh produce. I have been craving watermelon (no, I am not pregnant) this summer. I think because it's cool and refreshing in this heat. So, I have been buying a lot of watermelon- seedless watermelon. I don't like to pick the seeds out. Emery eats a lot of watermelon and I don't want her eating too many seeds and choking on them. Hence my need to buy SEEDLESS watermelon. You can see in one of the photos (it's a tad blurry because I used my iphone) it states that it's seedless- "mini seedless". When I cut into it- black seeds were everywhere! I can handle the small white seeds and a random black seed but this was ridiculous! It was blog worthy!

Choo-Choo

I took the kids to the train located at the SA Zoo. Of course Huston had to tell Emery all the rules of the train and where to sit, etc. He can be so bossy sometimes! I had to put the pic of him telling Emery what to do. The train conductor took our photo in front of the train. Usually it is just the kids, so it was nice to actually get one of us all in the photo.

Cousins

Braden has been in town (July 10-16, 2009) from Fort Worth. Huston and Emery have enjoyed seeing him and hanging out with him each day. Braden will be leaving soon and I know the kids will be asking me to see Braden again soon. They don't realize that he lives in a different town- they haven't made that connection yet. We all went to the library one afternoon- to beat the heat and then off to McDonald's to let off some energy. We ended the evening going to one of Huston's Little Gym classes. They had fun- it was nice because it was at 6:30 pm so they really let off energy before bedtime.

Bible Story Hour

Each summer our church has a gathering for the 5 and under crowd on Monday mornings. July 13th, I took Emery, Huston and Braden for some music, a puppet show, crafts, snack and playtime. We met up with Daphne and Ellie before they headed back home to Dallas. The usual room was being occupied and failed to let the coordinator (April K) know until the last second. She was doing her best to be flexible with Plan B. Then (praise God) there was a record-breaking number of little ones that showed up. My kids had a ball! They especially liked the parachute that was brought out towards the end. Afterwards, we met my mom at Chick-fila for some lunch.
Funny side story.... Within the first 5-8minutes that we arrived, naturally my kids go nuts and run wild. Since we had Braden with us, it was 3 kids running wild and crazy (very normal). Daphne looked at them and then looked at me and asked if this was normal. Yep... it is very normal when we go out in public. She had to sit down because she said that it was really wild for her!! Ha Ha Ha

Junior League Special Events Tri-Chairs

Already hitting the 2009-2010 year off right! The Tri-Chairs met up for happy hour to begin planning this next JLSA year. We will be having lots of fun this year!!

Jump and Away!!

Big Jim and Lovey gave the kids for their birthday a jump house set (I am not sure the name for it). They love it! Friends, come play at our house (only in the morning hours and late hours due to extreme heat outside!!).

Elton John called looking for his sunglasses...

Emery received some very "girlie" things for her birthday. She is enjoying all the wonderful pinks, purples and reds that she can get her hands on!! Here she is wearing her "jewels", high heels (her first pair!) and sunglasss.

Good Old Times

It was really neat to have "old" friends and "new" friends get together at the kid's party. I LOVE how I am still really good friends with girls that I have known since elementary school and early middle school. I invited three great friends from middle school last year to Huston's 3rd and Emery's 1st birthday party. Sarah, Taylor and Missy were present so we took a pic. We had to take another one this year. Then we all went down the slide together. Not sure who had more fun... the kids or the adults. Those adults who didn't participate in sliding... YOU MISSED OUT!!!

Pump It Up

Huston and Emery had another combined birthday party again this year. We had it at Pump It Up. The theme was a monkey theme- since they both like Curious George. The location is a big warehouse with blow-up slides and such. They had a blast! Even the adults had a great time! Emery loved going down the slides, but going up them was a different story. She wasn't able to suck her thumb and go up the ladder of the slide. She had her grandfather (my dad) wrapped around her pinky finger. She had him holding her going up the slide (while she was busy with her thumb) and sitting on his lap going down (still sucking the thumb). What a hoot! We played for an hour and a half and then ate cake. I think Huston and Emery were overwhelmed at first but they quickly got the hang of things!! Once we were in our party room, I thought it would be fun to get a group photo of all the kids... HA! The candles were in place and the group sang Happy Birthday while Emery clapped (and enjoyed the attention) and Huston blew out the candles (waaaay before the song was over). After the party was over the kids got to take home a monkey shaped cookie and a Barrel of Monkies game home with them. Thanks everyone for such a fun time!!

Arrggh, you pirate!

Clark put this bandana on Emery's head one afternoon. She enjoyed wearing it around the house for awhile. Pretty amazing what they will leave on or not. :)

Busted Lip

While I was at a church event, Clark was watching the kids. Before bedtime we make the kids (try to at least!) pick up their toys that they played with that day. Poor Emery tripped on one of her teapots and scratched her lip. It wouldn't have looked so badly nor had gotten worse but she kept picking at it during naps or bedtime. Busted lip just in time for those party pics!

Hair cut time!!

It was time for Huston's hair to be cut and I decided to cut Emery's bangs. This was her "first" hair cut- which was just her bangs- but yet a momentous occasion!! We went to a different place to get their hair cut. I had a coupon for a new place but it was not cheap! It cost me $30 to get Huston's hair cut and Emery's bangs- OUCH! I am used to paying $14 for H's hair. I will be learning to cut E's bangs... They had the best time though! Huston rode in a Lighting McQueen car and Emery rode in a Barbie Jeep. They got tattoo's, lollipops and balloons when they were finished. I had to use the bathroom, so we all went in the bathroom together only to find that they entire walls were painted in chalk paint with two baskets of chalk to draw. Perfect! I could use the bathroom and not have to worry about them opening the door while I was on the potty. (Those of you with kids probably have been caught by total strangers seeing you use the potty once or twice before. I hate to say this... it used to be embarassing and I have giving that feeling up and just laugh it off now. What else are you going to do, right?!?!)
