Huston's First Soccer Game

March 28, 2010- Huston had his first soccer game. He wasn't too sure about the sport. He likes playing with Clark in the backyard, but in practice there were kids that were pushing. He was not a fan of kids pushing one another. Right before he went to his game he told me that he just wanted to play baseball. Lots of positive encouragement later he was out on the field ready to play. He did really well and kicked the ball in the goal. He was beaming and we were so proud! I think he might actually end up loving the sport! The team consists of boys and girls from the ages of 3-5. Maybe next year Emery and Huston will play on the same team- she sure took a liking to the sport as well (must be in her blood). I have to admit that it is a lot better watching soccer than baseball! (**Notice Huston's tongue when he plays ball... )

Easter Egg Time!

We had Lovey (Clark's mom) come over and help us dye Easter eggs with the kids. Emery got bored pretty quickly and Huston hung in there for awhile. After the dye dried, Huston got out his markers to decorate them. They had a great evening!

All Good Things Must Come to an End

Sunday, we went to brunch at the new TPC (The Palmer Course) JW Marriott resort hotel with the family before Elise and the boys headed out. Such a pretty resort- I would love to go there with the kids for a "stay-cation". They have thought of everything!! It was pretty crowded with Spring Breakers. I got some pics of the kids being silly. They always have such a good time together! Of course the kids were "pretending" to be tired/sleepy and we told them it was ok for them to sleep- ha! They were up and out of those spots quickly! As we were leaving the resort and heading home, Huston asked us if we were going to see Braden and Landon again tomorrow. He wasn't too happy when we told he not until the summer.

We had such a nice time together!! Love you all!

"Molly" the Maltese

Elise and I had the kids Saturday night (March 20). We had just finished dinner with all the kids and were about to head down to the bowling alley. We had finished dinner a little sooner than anticipated and had some time to kill. We went to the pet store. I was thinking that it was Saturday night and who in the world goes to a pet store then? HA! It was packed in the store! We looked at all the puppies behind the glass while we laughed and giggled! Elise passed by a Maltese puppy and said that was the dog she really wants. Their friends have one named "Molly" so we gathered the kids into a room and asked to hold "Molly". Each child had the opportunity to hold this puppy. They loved holding her (or him, never found out) and enjoyed that quick time. We gave the puppy back and started leaving the room. Landon was crying very loudly that several people were staring at us. He was crying so hard because he wanted to take "Molly" home and couldn't understand why we were holding her and not taking her home. It was so cute/funny!! He even had to touch the glass where she was to say good-bye! The most intriguing animals for the kids to watch over and over again- the gerbils.

Magik Theatre

There's a darling childrens theatre downtown named The Magik Theatre. I have been wanting to take the kids there- I just keep forgetting. They have had some cute show names that I know the kids would love. The show we say was If You Give a Moose a Muffin. Sooooo cute!! It was entertaining for adults and kids. We will be going back!!! I would love to get season passes and go back frequently during the summer.

Spring Break 2010 Part 1

Sick... I was pretty much sick the entire week of Spring Break. It started Sunday and ended Friday night. Great timing- throat infection. My sister did come into town with her two boys, Braden and Landon, on Wednesday. My mom and sister were kind enough to take Huston and Emery for a little while on Thursday. On Friday, I decided to just push through this illness and go to a "Ladies Luncheon" with my mom and sister while a babysitter watched the kids. It was fun getting out and talking without any interuptions! Later that night we went out to dinner with everyone- my parents, Elise & Co. and us. After dinner they came over to our house for dessert. "Broiler S'mores"- s'mores without the fire. It was a good ending to a good day.

I've got the bug...

...the baby bug that is. I was looking through some "old" photos of the kids and I can't believe how time has flown by! Clark and I have talked about adding at least one more to the mix- just not yet. In the mean time, I will just love on friends babies and enjoy every second. It's a good thing that I have plenty of friends who are still birthing little ones!! Enjoy some of these random "oldies, but goodies".

Happy Birthday Mom!

On March 5, it was my Mom's birthday. I was planning on taking her to lunch with the kids that day and was going to try to enjoy our lunch with two rowdy kiddos. My mom went downtown with my dad and the Axtell's to see a Broadway show. There they bumped into Taylor and her mom, Lou. It all just sort of formed into us all meeting for lunch on my mom's birthday. The morning of her birthday, a friend called to ask if she could watch the kids for me while I took my mom to lunch. What ended up being a crazy with kids lunch to a fun celebration without little ones running around. We went to a new lunch spot- Pam's Kitchen. Very good food!

Then the next day we went with my mom and dad to celebrate her birthday at The Melting Pot. YUM!!! The pics from that night didn't turn out too well. Oh well, you get the picture (literally!).

Potty Training Round 2

Yes, after a year of potty-training Huston- I can officially say he potty trained. We started last January (2009) training Huston and it was not an easy task. He finally got the hang of it last summer, but it's been touch and go in the fall. LOTS of constant reminders. Now, there aren't any. Just an occasional- don't forget to use the potty before we leave. It truly is nice. Please don't ask about the night-time. We will cross that bridge when we get there. Now it's Emery who is training like a champ! She wants to wear underpants out but I have been the one dragging my feet in training her. I have this phobia of public bathrooms. Boys are easy... girls not so much. And yes, we had a potty in our living room. We were watching a movie and she insisted on wearing underpants so I brought the potty to her so she wouldn't have any excuses. I guess we should say..."have potty will travel." She likes to "read" on the potty and talk on the phone. I didn't think of the bathroom fights with the two of them sharing a bathroom- that has already begun. Here's to many more bathroom fights!

It's Rodeo Time!

San Antonio has an awesome indoor rodeo- in fact, I think they keep winning awards. We were invited by the Allen's to go with them to the rodeo this year and then to see Tobey Keith in concert. I once thought Tobey was cute... must have been in my cowboy phase (that lasted a day!) We had a great time seeing all the bull-riding, mutton bustin', barrell racing and of course, eating! Kathryn and I were feeling in the mood for a SMALL drink. Clark went to go get one for us and came back with two "yards" of swirl margaritas. I think within the first five minutes, Kathryn had guloed hers down. Funny part- she kept complaining of a "head freeze". Maybe if she s-l-o-w-e-d down it might not have hurt. :) I posted a pic of her drink after the first 5 minutes- notice the drinks. When Tobey came on stage somehow I thought I would only know about 2 songs. I was pleasantly surprised that I knew most of the songs! It was a fun night!
